Does insurance cover Naturopathic Services?
Yes and no. In January of 2002, provincial subsidies for naturopathic care were discontinued. Currently, there is no MSP coverage unless you are on premium assistance, in which case, we can deduct $23 from your Naturopathic visits and bill MSP directly. Most extended health care plans (private plans) do cover Naturopathic visit fees and acupuncture (provided by your Naturopathic Doctor) while others further cover laboratory testing and intravenous therapies (this can range from 50% coverage to $500-$1000 annually, depending on your plan). Prescribed medications and supplements are generally not covered. Please check with your insurance provider prior to the visit, regarding your coverage details. Patients are required to pay at the time of service and then remit an invoice to their insurance provider for reimbursement.
