Chelation Therapy

How mercury causes brain neuron damage
– University of Calgary

Chelation therapy is an intravenous therapy that safely and effectively binds to, or “chelates”, toxic metals including, lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium and aluminum.

Chelating agents are organic compounds that include Ca-EDTA, DMSA, and DMPS. This is an important therapy for anyone who may suffer from cardiovascular disease, infertility, autoimmune disease or other chronic illness, as the human body builds up storage of these metals over decades, unable to eliminate them through normal physiologic processes.

In cardiovascular disease, chelation helps to reduce the oxidative damage that creates calcium deposits leading to plaque build-up in the arteries. Current research shows that chelation therapy increases the body’s natural production of nitric oxide in the blood vessel wall. Nitric oxide helps to relax smooth muscles in the arteries allowing for increased delivery of blood, oxygen and other vital nutrients to the tissues.

There is an overall effect of enhanced circulation, improved kidney function, a reduction in chest pain and blood pressure, increased exercise tolerance and brain function. In addition, the removal of heavy metal deposits from the blood vessel walls has been shown to improve blood flow and blood vessel flexibility, doubling the diameter of the vein, thus allowing greater blood circulation through the body.

Benefits of Chelation Therapy

Research has documented numerous benefits from chelation therapy. If you suffer from or have a family history of heart disease, diabetes, arthritis or osteoporosis you should be tested for heavy metal toxicity to determine if chelation therapy is right for you.

All patents have an initial consultation for a full health history intake. This is followed by some basic blood work and a “provocation” test where a chelating substance is administered (either intravenously or orally) and either urine or stool is collected for heavy metal analysis in a lab. Once the results are received a chelation plan is determined.

The duration and intensity of chelation therapy is dependent on each individuals current health status and test results. Dr. Emina uses protocols established by the American College for the Advancement of Medicine (ACAM) to assist in the removal of heavy metal toxins and metabolic wastes from the body.

Vitamin C is included in all our IV chelation therapies providing additional chelation support and anti-oxidation properties. The number of chelation treatments required is dependent on each persons test results and physical symptoms. Treatments can range anywhere from three to thirty chelation sessions, or until the the heavy metals have dropped to acceptable normal ranges with follow up testing.
